The hold priority chart
- 1. Royal flush — hold all five

The most critical rule
Never break a paying hand unless you have four to a royal flush. This is the single most important rule. Players who break a flush to chase a royal with only three to a royal are making a very expensive error.
Four to a royal flush exception
If you have four cards to a royal flush — DO break any paying hand including a flush or straight. This is the only exception in the entire strategy.
